Where to buy PICS?

I am one of the luck one to live in a city where a real electronics store is located. www.baynesvilleelectronics.com But all i see everyone talk about is buying directly from www.microchip.com Is there a cross ref number to ECG or NTE or any other semiconductor manufacture/suplier for the PIC16f84 or is buying online my only option.

As far as I know, there is no NTE cross reference to the PIC micro because there is no generic equivalent part. Microchip does sell direct, but more than likely you can find a distributor in your area or order from digikey (amongst others). Having said that, I seem to recall scenix made a pic compatible micro, but I have never seen/used it.
