When I see suggestions of restrictions being placed on a forums freedom of membership
and the formation of an elite groups within the membership, I become concerned.
The definition of the word forum is 'a place where public discussions are held'.
If you want to discuss specialised technical subjects, there are a number of Institutions, for which you can apply for membership,
if you are suitably qualified.
A person who has been a member of this forum for some period of time, in my opinion, is not entitled to any privileges or standing
over a member who joined yesterday.
Also age, qualification or experience should not be taken into consideration.
This is a forum open to all who are willing to abide by the rules and guidelines of the forums owners.
The Moderators and Administrators quickly deal with any member abusing the forum.
When an Newbie [IMO] asks a 'stupid' question, I have two simple choices, do I answer it or do I ignore it.
I have seen some very simple questions being asked by experienced members, I do not regard them as being stupid,
its probably not their area of expertise.
I have also seen some Newbie posts, which on a first reading appear stupid, but after re-thinking it through,
its the basis of a good/interesting project.
I know that the OP is not suggesting membership censoring, but I suspect it could quickly get to that situation.
This forum in my opinion, is well run and organised, I am pleased to be a member, it should be left as is.
Its interesting to see that you consider yourself qualified to become a Moderator, perhaps I might approve or not approve,
but in this forum, I do not have the power. [thank goodness] to say Yes or No !
