Weigh scale with tare adjustment

I'm looking for a fairly simple circuit that uses a LED 'bar' to note the relative weight of a container. It should have the ability to represent an empty container with no LEDs activated (zero set) and then progressively light LEDs to indicate a full condition. Empty would be about 20 lbs; full about 60 lbs. Maybe 10 incrimental LEDs.
 
ermm, not sure how to sense the weight of the object, but the display part should be quite easy.

if you can represent the weight as a voltage, you can use an LM3916 (or something similar). These are usually used to power bargraph displays for VU meters. Should be ideal.

Strain gauge. Google will turn up many reference designs.
