Washing machine motor DC 230V. Info for AC 230V 50Hz to DC ?

FROM THE UK 230v 50Hz AC

I have the control circuit in the washing machine and am trying to wire up the zener diode to the motor so the motor will work.

The motor is 230V DC and when pluged into the mains the motor just makes a loud humming noise.

Is there other componants i need to get the motor to work i wired it up so that the middle terminal is nuetral the cathode is live 230V AC and then i take my power off the annode and neutral? But nothing happends at all :cry:

Anyone sugest a wiring diagram or any part numbers from maplin electronics
