What does "The Works" Mean? Is it a brand name or something?

For etching, Ferric Chloride solution is used.

the works is a drain uncluging solution, which is 20% HCl

but to day im going to have my board diped anyway, o well.

I think HCl will even remove tracks from the PCB.

Do tell us result of your experiment. :)

Most drain cleaners have sodium hydroxide (lye) as their foundation. Lye is a caustic base as opposed to HCL. Both of these chemicals hate foreign material - especially metals (except brass) - and eat them up rapidly. Either will burn your skin/eyes plus they get very hot and give-off toxic gases . . . even when used properly. Please be careful.
