unusual part of led

searching for a low cost hi powered led and ran across this

in the middle of the page it has the led schematic with 3 leds but what is Z4??
just curious

Looks like some sort of Zener protection to me, perhaps voltage regulation?

EDIT: According to Electronics Weekly:

This polymer-protected zener diode (eg Tyco’s PolyZen) can help to provide transient suppression, reverse bias protection, and overcurrent protection in a single package.

Its a TVS... Transient Voltage Suppressor..

I though that it resembled a zenier diode but?
I guess it acts like a flyback diode?

The best LED's have a Zener pair like Z4 to protect it from ESD. >5V

I am searching for an RGB led, smd that I can use in an 5 x 7 matrix that can be seen 75-100 feet distance in broad daylight.
the data sheet I linked is a viable part. Just waiting for sample.
