Ultrasonic range meter question.

Hi Board,

I was just reading ultrasonic sensors in free time . I found the sensors are specified with a dead band in measurement RIGHT from the transducer. For example https://www.electro-tech-online.com/custompdfs/2011/11/0900766b803cf552.pdf

Could sombody put light on what parameters governs this , is this ringing? or something other. Thanks for your time

DEADBAND / BLANKING The ultrasonic sensor sends out a sound pulse and then switches into a “listening” mode.
The time required for the sensor to recover from transmitting a sound pulse until it can detect a return echo
translates into a minimum distance from the end of the sensor required before a target can be detected.

Some times this information is missing , then how can we find what is the switching/setteling time for a transducer . Like this spec **broken link removed** kHz&headline=150 kHz Thanks

The data sheet you linked to does not give effective range? If you spec a transducer that list min and max range it is easy to figure out. The spec you linked says nothing. I suggest you contact the manufacturer.
