triggering an astable 555?

pouring through some old schematic files and ran across this. Was curious as I don't recall even drawing it (3 years later)
put into LT SPICE and it amazes me what I came up with. have no idea that tying the output to the trigger pin on a 555 would retrigger it?

Connecting a single timing resistor from Out to the timing capacitor (which is connected to Trig and Thres) creates an oscillator with almost equal High and Low periods... Old as the hills...
