I am trying to use the TI INA219 current/power monitor and the datasheet (p. 14) says that it "typically" needs a separate power supply. Currently, I am sharing the same supply voltage that I am measuring and there does not seem to be a problem from my limited testing.

What are the problems that I should be seeing that are associated with using a shared supply voltage?

If I really need a separate supply, does that mean I have to use a second transformer?
