Super Cleaning a circuit board

I need to clean a custom-built circuit and make it look as good
as possible. The board was etched using press and peel and mainly
has surface mount components on it.

I am thinking about dipping the board in a bath of diluted bleach,
washed off with water, and then followed by a dip in a bath of diluted
acetone.

Does this sound like a reasonable idea to everybody?

My belief is that the point in the SOIC packages where the leads
enter are air-tight. I hope that this is the case.

I would not use bleach and the plastic package is not air tight. I use isopropyl alcohol and a stiff bristle brush.

What about the "military" versions of chips that have higher temperature
tolerances? Might those be airtight?

Okay. No bleach. What does the isopropyl alcohol do exactly? Will
acetone also do the same thing?

I think the datasheet says 'suitable for immersion cleaning' if the component is water tight.


Isopropyl alcohol is a solvent for cleaning, google it for its properties.
