Can you consider implementing a checkbox for both PM's and Forum Posts that would expand URL's to their readable/copy/pasteable forms.
Why? If you want to save PM's or Posts/Threads, particularly PM's that are saved using the Adobe virtual printer, you need the entire links visible.
