Slayer exciter project

So I made a schematic the best i know how to at the moment and some pics of the circuit and coil, The coil works and lights up some bulbs but the sparks that come out when i hold the ground wire near the toroid are very small and it does have a relatively small range. I was wondering how i can beef up the circuit I already am using a (high power transistor) and if it is possible to hook up an unregulated wall wart to power it or should i just stick with batteries.

(and the resistor is actually 27KΩ not 22)

I just had a look at your "Forum Permissions", I could not see a reason why you could not attach pictures to the post.

When you are composing the post, click on the Upload File button to add pictures and schematics etc.

Your little 9V batteries have a fairly low maximum output current that gets less and less as you use them. Try a powerful power supply then the high power transistor will get serious exercise.

could i reuse a wall wart with higher amperage or an old xbox power supply to power it?
 
It is too bad that the transformer is designed for a high voltage power supply instead of only 12V.
 
Its been a while since I played with tesla's.
Try adjusting the no. of turns and the proximity of the primary to the secondary, if you get too close it'll flash over.

A 'royer' resonant push pull type oscillator will give you a higher voltage and will probably draw less current, there are plenty of examples on the net.
Batteries is probably safer than mains power.
