simple 7 segment display

as part of a college project, i require to build a 7 segment display. having very little knowledge of electronic circuits, i am in need of some help.

basically, i'm looking for help on how to build the whole thing.

The attached diagram is of a seven segment. It is one digit and all numbers can be displayed depending upon which segements are illuminated. These are the normal segments illuminated for the numbers 0 thru 9.

0 A thru F
1 B and C
2 A,B,D,E,G
3 A,B,C,D,G
4 B,C,F,G
5 A,C,D,E,F,G
6 C,D,E,F,G
7 A,B,C
8 ALL SEGMENTS
9 A,B,C,F,G

The segments can be made with LED's or incandescant bulbs.

Use CD4026. You only need one chip.
