Seeking advice in ESD Control scheme

Hi guys, i was given a project to produce some device to counterfeit ESD. i was thinking of creating an ion ionizer... izzit possible? i have found circuits in the web, given circuitry of an air ionizer... the concern is it does only create negative ions.. is there way to create positive ions? or an air ionizer can be used as an ESD ionizer as well? Thank you!!!

There are very specific specs for esd. Are you trying to do esd testing or just make sparks?

i came across a website about modifying gas lighter to make it an ionizer gun by simply removing the ground of the gas lighter...
can anyone explain the concept to me? thanks!!
