Im lookin for freeware with which i can draw simple schmatic diagrams.

It would also be helpful if u could mention what software (does not have to be free) is the best...

Could anyone name the basic steps from drawing schematics to printing them / getting them printed...

'Best' is entirely subjective, 'best' is what works for you!.

I've recently bought sPlan 5.0 from Abacom at https://www.abacom-online.de, the site is in German, English and French. You can download a demo version to try.
 
OrCAD provides a free student edition. As it is a student edition you are limited to saving a cct with 60 components.

Still it is very handy.
