RTCC Output pin

Hi, I am a newbie in electronics project.

I am doing a project on PIC24FJ series microcontroller units.
I have a slight problem understanding about Real Time Clock/Calender (RTCC). I would like to understand what is the function of the RTCC output pin. Should the pin be connected to output display such as LCD?

Can someone please explain about the usage of the RTCC output pin on PIC24FJ MCU. Thanks in advance.

Never used it but after looking in the datasheet it appears that it can output a pulse when an alarm (e.g. alarm clock function) or a pulse every second.

You should start with a simpler chip. Something like a 16F88 or 18F1320.
