One could write a book about it, and the space here is limited. What kind of diode? Why can't you look up that topic on the web or in textbooks?

It's not easy to know how diodes are made these days. Any information you can get will probably be too old to be useful.

Most IC diodes are epitaxial growth or planar diffused diode, but there is other types depending on application.

The old 'foxhole radio' using a 'cats whisker' contact forms a diode.
