from 230v,50hz supply to set up a fullwave rectifier at regulated voltage at 6v and vcalculate ripple factor at 100ma.with design of capctor and resistor

Hi,

Do you mean you have a transformer that steps 230v down to 6v ?

4.24Vrms is 6V peak. After a full wave rectifier, it's around 4.5V unregulated depending on rectifier and load.

Requirement is a 'regulated' 6V.

If a project, the output voltage of the transformer at the maximum current load has to be at least one forward biased junction drop above the desired output voltage for a series regulator. The maximum can be anything higher. If you are looking at large voltage differential, a phase control pre-regulator is in order followed by a standard series regulator. I find analog regulators easier to design and digital more efficient but, it requires more filtering and will usually need a slow start circuit to get the caps up to voltage.
