Receiver trouble

Hello, I hope someone can help me. My husband and I are trying to watch a movie and our receiver (Pioneer VSX) posted an error message reading: AMP ERROR, it then shuts off. Any ideas on how to fix this? Our manual gave no reference to this problem.

Does it do this for any audio, now? "AMP ERROR" is very clear about /what's/ wrong - probably some fault in the power amplifier that drives the speakers - but not how or why. It may require servicing.
