Radio Operated switch

I need to build a radio frequency operated operated switch.
Can some one help with a functiona transmitter and reciever circuits.

What's it switching? What range?

Thanks for the quick reply. I am building a remote controlled ceiling fan regulator. The remote section is meant to be omnidirectional, so I chosed a RF method instead of IR. I need help on the transmitter/reciever sections of this work which will drive a small relay that will deliver the pulse i need for a cmos 4017 counter.This counter will do switching.
