Sorry about that, didn't remember precisely where I got the circuit (usually just grab schematics).

Anyway, so did you listen to the WAV file?

Yes and it sounds nothing like a canary, but more like a sound effect on a kids space ship toy, perhaps it's supposed to by an alien canary or something.

Hi,

I came across this post discussing the circuit of the Parrot Sounding AC Doorbell published in our June 2006 issue. The circuit of the same has been tested and verified to work just fine in our lab. The push-to-on switch is recommended for use strictly for prototyping purpose. However for long term use, a doorbell switch should be used. This is because the Parrot Bell circuit operates on AC supply, which typically cannot be tolerated by a push-to-on switch, and may cause it to heat up or give shock.

A photograph of the working prototype is available on the website https://www.kitsnspares.com along with a detailed description. Take a look at the pdf available for download. (Kits n Spares is a sister concern of EFY selling DIY hobby kits based on the circuits published in Electronics For You magazine. All the circuits are tested and verified by our lab team).
