I have a box (factory sealed) of 30 AA Rayovac batteries. The plastic box is hot to the touch. I left them sit about 6 hours and they are still hot. I took them out of pkg and they still are radiating heat. Has anyone ever heard of this. Factory sealed!!

Welcome to ETO!
Never heard of such a thing. Get the lot outdoors quickly!
Is any one battery hotter than the others?
What is the battery chemistry: alkaline, NiCd, lithium, ....?
Is this box a recent purchase, or has it been in storage for ages?

Have you got a Geiger counter handy?

(no, that wasn't a serious question).

Have you got a voltmeter to measure their voltage?

I agree that you should leave them outside.

Doesnt make much sense, aa's would only have enough energy to heat up for a few hours.
