OP amp connections

n the op-amp circuit the ground connection is shown, however I know this connects to some other wire to close the loop for the source of voltage. Where do these wires connect to. In other words where the ground is shown on the an op-amp circuit, what is actually connected to this point
 
It's not necessary to re-post. Here are the problems. No one can see "the op-amp circuit" you are referring to, no one knows which op-amp you are using (741, 1458, 339, 386), and no one can tell what you are trying to build (i.e., inverter, unity gain follower, audio amp, detector, etc). You might consider expanding your question a little.

One consideration for some op-amps is that they use a dual polarity power supply. That is, they require +5 volts, -5 volts, and a ground as opposed to most circuits that only require a + voltage and a ground.

Post the schematic and a few details and lets solve that problem.
