Nikon DSLR LCD black ring

Hi,
I have a bit old nikon dslr D5000, it take good pictures without any issue. The only problem is last few years it's lcd developed a black/dark ring around the display, looks like the led inside lcd are getting dim. I have attached picture below. Is this fixable by cleaning or some how or do i have to replace the entire lcd.

Have seen the same in an old Casio calculator and one of my DMM. The same happened to one of my camera maybe 2 to 4 years ago which became unusable.
