Hi there

I'm looking to build a project, but need something that emits a signal, but more importantly another device that picks up this signal and will beep at a faster rate as you get closer and closer to the source.

Is there anything cost effective that would allow this? Or is this way too complicted for a small project idea.

Cheers
Colin

Beeping faster as you get closer really requires two way communication between the two items. A bit complicated to do.
Now, if you settle for something that simply beeps louder (at the same frequency) as you get closer you could use the increase in signal strenght to do that.

Thanx for that. That would be fine, beeping louder would easily suffice.

Would you have any ideas as to what i could use to send/receive the signal though? Considering cost restraints as well?

Regards
Colin

An echo sounding device could be made to click faster as you get closer,
or slower as you get further away.

Its not really a beep,
and it may not work over longer distances,
but ive seen it work from fifteen feet
down to quite close, maybe an inch or so.
