I have about 6 questions on my homework that I just cant understand. Here is one of them, "An RL series circuit is connected to a 120-volt 60Hz line. The inductor has a voltage drop of 54 volts. What is the voltage drop across the resistor?"

Would the answer just be 120v/54v= 2.22 voltage drop across the resistor? Can someone help me with this and possibly 5 more questions?

Hi there,

ljcox idea is a good one, if you have used phasors in the past you can do it like that.
What we dont know is what you have actually done in the past, what kind of math and what kind of analysis have you done before? If you are going to ask more questions this will help everyone here to help with your questions as they will know what you have dealt with already in the past and can tailor the solutions to your background a lot better.
