Try doing a google search, there's lots of info out there!.
Basically you can do in hardware with a UART plus support components, or use a micro-controller solution - one such example is at https://airborn.com.au/serial/sertopar.html
I've no idea, I read and replied to the post before it was edited and didn't notice anything, but it's nice to know that moderators are active (and paying more attention than me!).
