Interesting story the other day, at the new school my daughter's now at, there is apparently a concrete bench - and it wasn't in the place the kids wanted it. But in all the years it's been there, none of the kids have been able to move it (rather like the sword in the stone).
Anyway, Melissa didn't like it where it was either, so she got Charlie (the guitarist from a couple of her bands, and who moved to the same school with her), and a year 13 called Mark - and with a bit of brain work, and a LOT of muscle work from the three, they moved the bench to where Melissa wanted it!
Interesting that in a fairly large school, it takes a girl to work something out?.
Thats what you could call creating a new 'bench mark' in engineering?.
Could moving a bench thru say 100cms by a group of young people redefine the term 'analog multi-metre movement'?
I suspect that if young man rather than a young lady had asked their peers for help in moving the bench, he would have probably got
a different response.
