It would be great to have some managed code for interfacing microcontrollers to devices like touchscreens but I have it on good authority from a MCSE and instructor that Microsoft .Net Micro has been scrapped but they didn't know what was replacing it.Does anyone know?

If you have it on 'good authority' then presumably they would know?, otherwise they aren't much of an 'authority' at all!.

And what has MicroSoft got to do with micro-controllers?.

Absolutly nothing and it better stay that way. Macro management does not work well with micro controllers. Standards as such are over rated and idealist at best.

The source is not a code developer, do you think Microsoft would let this out easily.Microsoft probably doesn't even know what they will replace it with yet and I can personally vouch for this persons educational background and many certifications held.
Microsoft .Net Micro is a free downloadable extension to Visual Studio and can be used for programing MCU's based on the ARM 7 and 9.
