Hi,

I am working on a hand held device that will have a polymer Li-Ion battery inside (2000-3000mAh). I want to charge my device via micro USB. For this device I need a battery manager/charger.

Here are my requirements:
- Must be controllable to: enable/disable charging, draw 100mA and draw 500mA from the USB
- Low cost
- Must completely handle single cell Li-Ion battery charging
- Charging method: constant current + constant voltage
- Must have battery thermistor input
- Must have charger status output

I have found two IC's that I think I can use: MAX8601 and LTC4095. I don't know which of them to choose and would like some advice. Other alternatives are also appreciated.

The LT part is about $1 cheaper, but the Maxum seems to be easier to use. How much help was that?

I was looking at onesies. $3.70 vs $2.93. How many are you going to build?
