Have you tried MCU8051IDE? Looks similar to Edsim….

I have not Ian. In fact, what impresses me most is why I am playing around with an 8051 simulator. Makes me want to go dig out that 8051 board...my ability toward distraction is impressive :)
 
I love playing with these devices... At Portsmouth Uni we had "Phillips" as a major contributor... Guess where this is going...

I got involved with the XA-G49 and S49 16 bit 8051 derivatives ( I think 88CO196 was intel's version )

I still have several boards for these things..
 
I received a note about this new core 8051 in email the other day:


They are still being used.
