Infra-red transceiver transducer

I am looking for a pre-made package like this to use as part of an encoder (disk with black and white stripes):

However, the above item is discontinued. I have made my own using a P5587, soldered it up with the right components. Afer building it, it worked for a while, then it stopped working.

Now I just want to get the whole package so that all I have to do is power it up and its ready to go (gives 5V and 0V output). Does any one know where I can buy the above (I know its discontinued), or perhaps someone knows another module which does the same thing?
