Hi everybody:

Is it possible to use an IC such as part number TC74VHC4040FK (which has REEL format) on a breadboard by using a socket that adapts the IC as a through hole IC?
I found a socket with part number 224-1275-39-0602J on mouser but visually it does not seem to b the right item.
Could you tell me what kind of socket should be used for the purpose I mentioned?

Thank you

That socket isn't the right thing at all. It's almost a socket for a socket, and it only works for through hole ICs.

The TC74VHC4040FK has a pitch of 0.5 mm and I can't find an adaptor for it. The TC74VHC4040F is electrically identical and it's much easier to find adaptors for those, and soldering would be much easier. Here is an adaptor https://uk.farnell.com/aries/lcqt-soic16/ic-adaptor-16-soic-to-dip-2-54mm/dp/2476039
