How a transistor works

A transistor is a semiconductor which means that it will only conduct under certain conditions. In a NPN transistor electrons will be taken be atoms in the semiconductor in the Gate leg until the atoms have full electron shells and electrons entering the transistors can flow freely.

I think this is right, as i just saw it on the Royal Institute Xmas Lectures.
