How do I do this?

I am a newbie and would appreciate some help as how to build this circuit at
Picoammeter circuit with 4 ranges - CA3420

with respect to getting the +1.5V and -1.5V in the circuit. And how does this relate to ground? How do I set up my AA batteries?

You wire the pos end of Bat 2 to the neg end of Bat1. Pos end of Bat1 goes to the +1.5V; Neg end of Bat2 is -1.5V

Mike, you forgot to mention that the connection between the two batteries goes to circuit ground.
