How can I do this?

I work in customer service and every once in awhile every call taker gets a nightmare customer who ends up with a supervisor on an escalated call, or ties us up for an hour before getting to the supervisor. These customers don't want solutions, but just want to spread misery everywhere they go.

It is company policy that we cant hang up on these callers. Is there some way to put an electric charge on the incoming phone line to cause the call to drop? Or is there some magnetic solution? I am not educated in electronics.

Does anyone know anyway the call could be dropped without hanging up on them? Often times, incoming cell phone calls will drop on their own, and I want the call to drop and appear like it was that type of call..

thanks

'you' aren't allowed to physically hang up on them, so you want a circuit that does it for you? you are still hanging up on the person, why not just wire a switch in series with the phone line?

plus anyway if you have an irate customer it is usually because YOU (the company) has done something wrong (you dont sell timeshares do you?).

cutting the caller off does not solve the problem. It will only make it worse. ok you are taking the problem away from the call centre problem but hte person will only call back.
he will get through to a different operator but say they also cut them off. sorner or later that person will get to a manager and reall rip into them

Who do you think the manager will vent the new found frustration on?

Perhaps you could utilize hold music of the most annoying song you can think of looping over and over.

How about we make their phone on the other side explode through an EMP through the phone line? Sure, that would work...

This may be the funniest request I've seen here. I don't quite know what to say.

oops, i misread that, i thought it said that its company policy that we CAN hang up on these callers.

I think ur @ a dead end here. Whats the difference of dropping the call or hanging up on them? No one is going to know the difference accept you. The irate caller is going to call your employer and tell them that u hung up on them . . . u get fired.

Unless there is some way of making one of those automated messages come up, like the one "im sorry, your call did not go through, please hang up and try again". That would make the irate caller think that you didn't hang up on them, they would think something went wrong w/ the phoneline. The problem though is, what if this gets reported a couple of times?

I work for a wireless (cellphone) call center. Basically we are paid to take abuse because all the wireless companies pretty much are money hungry corporations who get customers locked into a contract so they can rape them over and over again. The real solution is find another job, but it would be nice to drop calls from all the idiots out there who dont have the mental ability and responsibility to handle a cell-phone.

We work on phones that are called "call masters" It is a product of Lucent technologies. We have a release button, but I think they can tell if you are using that button. They can use software to monitor your computer and call master. The trick would be to release the call without touching any buttons on the call master. In other words something rigged up on the phone line. I was wondering is some sort of electric/magnetic pulse on the phone line could cause major static and the customer would get frustrated trying to communicate and hang up.

ohhhhhhh, ok, i c wher ur goin now. so wut u wanna do is make so much static that the other person cant hear u and decides 2 hang up  sweet. Well, i guess u could make something that oscillates @ audio frequencies and put it by the wire that goes 2 ur headset. it would cause static in ur line and theirs.

Then do the job and keep taking abuse. :)

Generally, people do not wake up in the morning and think to themselves "I think I am going to call ABC company and raise all hell!"
There is usually some event that triggers all of the stuff you are trying to avoid. I think the only way you can really solve your issue is to keep the customers from placing the frustrating calls in the first place.

agreed,

if one is paid to do something then idea is to do it (workl)
or be fair and quit. there are tons of jobs everywhere that
do pay the bill and don't require PhD. I was working myself
on construction, farm, bar, casino, hotel and restaurant
until I got my degree and started doing what I like.
