I would assume temperature?.

However, what voltage are you feeding to the heater?, it's a standard 6.3V heater.

It's only a small signal valve, they don't get terribly hot, if you can see the heater glowing it's probably hot enough.

Going back decades to when I repaired valve gear on a daily basis, you could easily change running small signal valves with your bare hands, where as power valves often needed a duster round your fingers.
