Help for a Step Motor Drive

74ls86 no model?? There is a model in Proteus 8.... In Proteus 7 you can use the 74HC86 it will give the same results...

I think its a school thing, i dont think they actually build the circuit. I often wonder why so many of these are so intent on making stuff work in Proteus. If your actually building this then doing the drawing in proteus is fine, but really i would bread board this and try it for weight etc.

Might just be me but i get the feeling they just hand it in as a project for an assignment without actually Building. Alot of cheap Arduino kits come with steppers and motor drivers on boards already.

I got some of those too mine didn't have heat sink tho it burnt up at 500 mA but like I said it had no heat sink.
It like got hot really fast . I then seen them with heatsink. probably the problem but i got them for like nothing.

It would be nice if the easy stepper would do 1/16 it only goes to 1/8

The A4988 good to 1 amp

I'm SOOOOO glad you've warned me. The modules haven't arrived, and now I'll make extra sure that the heat sinks are properly installed and tight against the chip. Many thanks!

There's also the DRV8825 based ones, which share the same pinout and can go up to approx 1.5A per phase:

The latest one which people with 3D printers are going for, is the TMC2130:
https://www.filastruder.com/products/silentstepstick-tmc2130-stepper-motor-driver

The latter can be controlled via SPI and has higher microstepping resolution. DRV8825 will do microsteps up to 1/32, whilst the TMC2130 will go to 1/256.
Additionally, the TMC's are supposedly much quieter and have load detection, but I'm not going to shell out over $10 per driver board, when the A4988 & DRV8825 versions I have do just fine.

Regards.

EDIT:
"controlled" should instead read "configured"

You probably closer to where they come from then me But I can get free shipping so there 12.75.

banggood even better tho I just hate there wait last thing I got too 6 weeks LOL

I tend to plan ahead and consolidate a BG order for items required for projects which are lower down on the to-do list. That way, I can focus on the projects I currently have parts for and maybe actually finish one.

If only there were a pill we could take, where sleep was no longer a requirement...
However, employers would probably feed them to us like Skittles!!!
