ive had the same problem with the TRIAC being USA stock so ive ordered STMICROELECTRONICS
BTA06-600BRG hopefully thats ok as a replacement

Whats the continuous current requirement of the Triac, I guess its UK mains voltage.

yes we are running at 240v and around the 300-400W total. its a real pain with farnell, they have the parts but when you goto checkout it tells you some the parts are USA stock and subject to £15 delivery. i just hate paying way more for shipping than the parts cost

I would consider a 5amp or higher rated Triac would be more than adequate for say 400W.

BTW: the UK mains is supposed to be standardised at 230Vac.

I agree its a nice solution, but its only £2.10 for an opto and a triac, as opposed to £8.00 for this device.
If we add 20%VAT, thats only £2.52 versus £9.60. !

hi eric thats the one i ordered instead thank god i got it right do i need to alter any values on the resistors?
carmusic if i was only going to do a single control board or maybe even 3-4 i would probally go for a ssr, but if all works out then i will be building 30-40 of them and using ssr's starts getting exspensive!
