I'm working on a school project and have an assortment of small electronics hooked together but would like a small incandescent bulb pulse on and off. Don't know how to make this happen, any advice would help.

You may want to use a 555 timer configured as an astable oscillator and have the output drive a transistor to drive the lamp. Similar to audioguru's post in this thread. However, configure the 555 timer for astable operation as shown here. That should work for you with some changes. I suggest the transistor as I don't know how much current your bulb requires. As Mr. Cecil mentions the 555 is good to about 200 mA. I just like transistors.
