Frequency signal

I got a doubt where actually i need to give a single frequency signal of some X frequency to a controller , but by mistake if it is given two frequency signals of different frequencies what will happen? Which frequency does the controller read?

The controller needs frequency-selective filtering which can extract the wanted signal and reject the unwanted one. Google 'narrow band filter' or 'band pass filter' or 'band reject filter'.
