Extending component conection

I'm extremely new to this so forgive the easy question, I am fixing an old keyword chef, replacing the capacitors, the connections on the new capacitors aren't long enough to join the circuit, do I need a specific grade of wire/ sort of wire.
 
Just some wire of a similar diameter to the wire on the component and it should be OK.

J hook them too, bend the cap wire around the extension wire in a 'j'.
Some sleeving might be good too.
I had to repair the wifes chef a while back, interesting speed control mech, it uses a centrifugal switch and a triac.
