ELK-MM443 what would you change if you could.

The ELK-MM443 is a Programmable controller with 4 relays, 4 inputs, X10 (needs interface), RS485 and iButton.

If you had a chance to design your own PLC type device what would you change?
Internally it uses a PIC16C76-04. Myself I'd use a flash chip, possibly an 18F series.
Would you add a RTC? How about a standard RS232 port as well as a RS485. More relays? More inputs? Optoisolation? ZigBee? Memory? Display? Keypad?
