Is there a difference between two Electrolytic capacitors, both with the same specs (1000uf, 35wdc.Temperature and tolerance may differ), except for the size, (one is 1/4" x 1/2" the other is 1/2" x 1")
The larger of the two occupies more real estate on the board, which is a power supply for a STB, It ain't pretty sticking out there but it should work????
My tech sent me to Radio Shack for some capacitors.... what the hell does a software engineer know about electronics :(

If the specs are similar, then they should both operate the same.

The one with the larger diameter will have more parasitic inductance. For capacitors of that size though it's probably just a power buffer, so even if the values were different it probably wouldn't make too much difference.
