DVD player won't play DVD

I have an Emerson EWR20V5 dvd/vhs player. It had been working fine, then I went to watch a DVD and it loaded and immediately powered off. I've tried to watch several different DVDs, regular films, not recorded, and it won't work. Can anyone give me any tips? I've unplugged and restarted it repeatedly, still it doesn't work.
