digital counter

i think of design a digital clock but i am confused obout what decade counter IC i used , for remmeber i use a clock so please i need your help
to get the optimum and cheap IC to be used

Well, I don't know enough about electronics to give you that info. But, what I can do, is give you a good page about building a digital clock. Will that work? If so, here you go: **broken link removed**
However, it uses a PIC, so if you don't want to mess with that sorry, can't help you.

The cheapest decade counter you'll find is 4017.
