hi everyone im new to the forum.

anyway i am making a 4 bit synchronous counter from J K Flip Flops (7476). the counter is being driven by a light sensor. i was wondering how to connet the sensor to the counter to create the square wave clock pulse to make the count e.g. 1,2,3,4. i have tested the counter on a signal generator and it works fine.

Do you want to count how many times the light beam is interrupted?

Usually, to convert a varying voltage or varying resistance into a clean logic level, you use a Schmitt Trigger circuit consisting of amplification, positive feedback, therby providing hysteresis. Usual practice is to use an LM311/339/393.
