AV selector box

i want to build an audio/video selector box. one that has like 5 inputs for audio and video and then all route to one output of audio and visual.

that way i can connect all of my components to the selector box and just push switches to use the different components. ive seen these around for about 20 bucks, i was wondering if i could build one for cheaper.

is it really as easy as connecting RCA connectors together with switches to inturrupt the flow?
 
All you need is a 2-pole, 5-position rotary switch.
One pole is used for the audio, and the other for the video.
