I'm making a 232 to TTL logic circuit. the specs call for a 2N7000 Mosfet. my local store doesn't have this, but they do have a IRF510. will the IRF-510 work in this application? i'm thinking no because the min DS current on the 510 is 5.6A, which wont be seen in a RS232 circuit i would think. thanks -Ryan
the 2N7000 is a small signal device, the IRF510 is a power device, pretty much over kill for the application. Would it work? maybe, depends on the circuit and what drive signal is available. The current rating is the max the device can handle, going under is OK.
