Amp and Speaker power match?

matching amp to spkr

:D hi,

the guy had that formula because he used AES power rating system. using that system would be alright because it also consider amps with high distortion. although it may seem dangerous to use because of the figures that come out after computation.

imagine driving a 200w spkr with 400w amp! :)

I just compare RMS power of the amplifier and the speaker. Use a speaker wich can handle a little bit more power then the amp can deliver and it should be fine.
Never had any problems this way.

And don't look at maximum power ratings... they're meaningless
